1. Scope of sponsorship and deliverables
The sponsorship package, price, billing cadence, and term shown in Stripe Checkout are incorporated into these terms. The Founding Sponsor offer is a one-time $500 purchase, limited to five completed purchases, with active sponsor placement through December 31, 2026 and no automatic renewal. After successful payment and approval, support may appear as an organization profile, an individual supporter profile, or private support without an individual public listing. Sponsorship is underwriting, not run-of-site advertising, a pop-up placement, or an in-text endorsement.
2. Strict data firewall and no license
Sponsorship provides public brand visibility only. It does not grant access to raw or unpublished data, custom analytics, custom queries, API access, nonpublic information, early access, rights of first refusal, or rights in future products. Publicly available material remains subject to the project reuse and source terms.
3. Editorial and technical independence
The Crash Data Project retains full editorial and technical control over source selection, data processing, maps, findings, methodology, corrections, and public presentation. A sponsor cannot review, influence, suppress, or alter the research. Material sponsorship connected to a specific publication will be disclosed.
4. Independent and non-exclusive support
Sponsorship reflects each sponsor's independent support for the project's public-data mission. It does not imply that a sponsor endorses the project, its findings, its operator, or another sponsor. Sponsorships are non-exclusive unless expressly agreed in writing. Organizations with differing industries, technologies, political perspectives, or policy positions may be accepted under the same eligibility, disclosure, and conduct standards.
5. Sponsor assets, privacy choice, and license
The sponsor represents that it has the right to provide its name, logo, website, LinkedIn destination, and statement. The sponsor grants the project operator a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and reproduce approved submitted assets solely to fulfill the sponsorship during the applicable term. A supporter who chooses private recognition will not receive an individual public listing. With separate consent, a verified private payment may be included in an aggregate supporter count that does not reveal the purchaser or organization. A Founding Sponsor may remain acknowledged in the project sponsorship history after its active placement ends, unless the sponsor asks for removal.
6. Review, suitability, and rejection
Most sponsors are expected to be accepted, but all sponsor identities and materials are reviewed before publication. The project reserves the right, in its reasonable discretion, not to display an organization, URL, logo, or statement when its identity, messaging, destination, conduct, or suitability for the project audience could create a misleading endorsement, undermine trust in the research, promote unlawful discrimination or harassment, misuse crash-victim information, or present material legal, safety, privacy, or reputational risk. The review does not require agreement on unrelated political, technological, or policy questions. If a sponsorship is declined before publication, the payment will be refunded.
7. Billing, renewal, and cancellation
Stripe Checkout identifies whether the package is a one-time purchase or recurring subscription. The Founding Sponsor offer is non-recurring and ends on December 31, 2026. Future recurring sponsorships, if offered, renew according to the cadence shown at checkout until canceled before the next renewal date. Once approved sponsor assets are published, payments are final and no partial-term refund is owed for early cancellation, except where required by law.
8. Availability and limitation of liability
The site relies on third-party cloud, payment, mapping, and data infrastructure and is provided as is and as available. No particular uptime, traffic volume, search ranking, referral volume, impression count, or business result is guaranteed. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the sponsorship or temporary service interruption.
9. Acceptance and contact
The purchaser represents that it has authority to bind the sponsoring organization. The Crash Data Project is operated by Meru AI. Acceptance is recorded through the required terms checkbox in Stripe Checkout. Questions about these terms or a sponsorship placement can be sent to contact@meruai.co.
